It is primarily constructed of composite materials. All PacMin models have their origins in civilian and military aviation programs. PacMin, short for Pacific Miniatures, was founded in 1946 by two employees of the Douglas Aircraft Company. Their purpose was to create aircraft models and cutaways that allowed prospective travelers to see the luxury and comfort of flight. As travel became more ubiquitous, PacMin was commissioned by airframe companies to market and promote their aircraft. Soon, airlines, corporate flight departments, and leasing companies began contracting PacMin to create limited edition models for events and commemorations. Oftentimes the models are exclusively produced for select VIPs.
This is why PacMin models are not produced in high quantities and are not readily available through retail outlets.
