Original 1939-44 WWII Era Bell Aircraft Company P-39 Airacobra Contractors Desk Top Model. Estate find in excellent untouched condition. Appears 100% complete with no major damages noted (see accurate photos). All metal construction with base and aluminum plane beautiful detail and casting. The Bell Aircraft P-39 might be called the most controversial U.Fighter of the Second World War. Produced from 1939 until 1944 the clean exotic lines of the Airacobra gave it a futuristic look. The P-39 was the first modern military aircraft to use tri-cycle landing gear. Gave half of the 9,588 P-39's made to Russia (Lend Lease Plan) for use against the Nazis.
The Russian pilots loved the P-39 even though U. Pilots didn't so much. Bell Aircraft Company was in business from July 10, 1935 through July 5, 1960 in Buffalo, NY.
The P-39 and this item were made about Bell's 4th year in business. The P-39 was Bell's 2nd Military contract ever.
The P-39 had the highest kill rate of any single WWII U. Made warplane (mainly due to Russian pilots effective use against some of the best German planes and pilots). Extremely rare offering Museum Quality. Unconditionally guaranteed old and authentic. I enjoyed researching this rare plane and rare item.
